Laboratory Worksurfaces
Bespoke epoxy resin worksurfaces, cast in solid homogeneous form and supplied ready to assemble, chemical-resistant through their full thickness, with no backing material required.
Most worksurfaces are fabricated to a customer's own specification and supplied in easy-to-assemble form with the minimum of joints. All assemblies are laid out in our works to check dimensional accuracy, matching of components, flatness of joints and overall appearance, to ensure everything fits together accurately on site.
Worksurfaces are cast at a nominal 15 mm thickness in two sheet sizes, 3000 x 1000 mm and 2300 x 1250 mm. They can be finished with a square edge or have a lipped edging profile fitted.
Cast in solid homogeneous form, worksurfaces cannot delaminate and exhibit the same excellent chemical resistance throughout their entire thickness. They are mechanically strong and need no backing material. We recommend continuous front and rear supports with cross members at a maximum of 800mm.
No crevices to trap contamination. On site, sections are bonded with epoxy grout/adhesive and pulled together to a joint under 1 mm wide; upstands finish the worksurface against the wall. The result is a continuous, easily-cleaned working surface that gives liquids nowhere to pool and contamination nowhere to gather.
Factory-fitted sinks. A sink can be fitted in the works in two ways. Flush-fitted: a special fitment that applies only to Simmons worksurfaces and fabricated sinktops, where the sink is fitted into a rebated cut-out in the underside of the worksurface and blended in to give a smooth, crevice-free joint. Undermount: fitted below a cut-out, with the worksurface overhanging.
Two ways to finish an edge.

Standard square edged
A very small chamfer to top and bottom edges. Cut edges are cleaned up but will not carry the same semi-gloss finish as the top surface.

Edged worksurfaces (marine edge)
A containment edging can be fitted to any worksurface for safety, shown here with an E1 front edging. Other edgings or upstands can be specified.

Surface burning tested to UL 723 at UL, Northbrook, Illinois, 15 September 2025, on 15 mm black material. Decontamination tested by IRAS to BS 4247 Part 1 Test A, certificate 227, 1992. Not for use with dry ice or liquid nitrogen.
Chemical resistance
24-hour spot test to SEFA 3-2020, 49 reagents, by SGS INTRON in March 2026: no detectable effect from 16 reagents, only a slight change in colour or gloss from 24 more, a clearly discernible change from eight, and one level 3 result, 96% sulphuric acid. The standard allows four level 3 results, so the material conforms. All 49 results.

Five standard colours, one finish.
Every colour is cast with the same semi-gloss finish. Other colours are available to special order, and small material samples are free.
Colours shown are a guide only and cannot be guaranteed to match supplied components.
