The pattern shop
Harry Simmons Sr opens the Simmons Pattern Shop on Union Street, Coventry, making the patterns and moulds behind Britain's growing motor industry. The foundry that follows casts parts for Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Rover and other British car makers.
A new material, the same craft
The family turns its mould-making expertise to solid epoxy resin, and Simmons (Mouldings) Ltd begins casting laboratory worksurfaces. The moulds are still made in-house, today with modern CNC milling.
Across the Atlantic
Simmons North America, today Simmons Epoxy, is formed to serve laboratories in the United States and Canada, carrying the same casting heritage to a new market.
Made in Coventry, shipped worldwide
Every piece is still cast, cured and finished in Coventry, and laboratories in more than fifty countries rely on the result. Simmons exhibit at ACHEMA in Frankfurt; the next is ACHEMA 2027, Hall 12.0, stand D26.
