Laboratory Worktops
Bespoke epoxy resin benchtops, cast in solid homogeneous form and supplied ready to assemble — chemical-resistant through their full thickness, with no backing material required.
Most worktops are fabricated to a customer's own specification and supplied in easy-to-assemble form with the minimum of joints. All assemblies are laid out in our works to ensure dimensional accuracy, matching of components, flatness of joints and overall appearance — so everything fits together accurately on site.
Worktops are cast at a nominal 15mm thickness, in lengths up to 3000mm and widths up to 1000mm (some specials up to 1300mm). They can be cut with a square edge, have an edging profile fitted, or have a radius edge machined on.
Cast in solid homogeneous form, worktops cannot delaminate and exhibit the same excellent chemical resistance throughout their entire thickness. They are mechanically strong and need no backing material — we recommend continuous front and rear supports with cross members at a maximum of 800mm.
Three ways to finish an edge.

Standard square edged
A very small chamfer to top and bottom edges. Cut edges are cleaned up but will not carry the same gloss finish as the top surface.

Edged worktops
A containment edging can be fitted to any worktop for safety — shown here with a No.1 front edging. Other edgings or upstands can be specified.

Radius edged
Flat worktops supplied with a radius machined onto the top edge. Machined edges are cleaned up but will not carry the same gloss finish as the top surface.

Chemical resistance
Tested to BS EN 438-2:1991 (24-hour spot test). Unaffected by the majority of common laboratory reagents — including acetone, alcohols, and hydrochloric and sulphuric acids. A small number of aggressive reagents cause slight bleaching or surface attack (e.g. dichloromethane, hydrofluoric acid, fuming nitric acid). Full classified spot-test matrix available on request — ref. SIM-CR-24.
Five standard colours.
